Parent Testimonials
It is my pleasure to write on behalf of Sharmila Sanjay and ThinkSmart Kids.  My daughter Sunni is 12 years old and currently in 7th grade.  She was identified last Fall by Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth as a gifted student and invited to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).  This test is normally given as a college entrance exam for 11th and 12th graders.  Two months prior to her taking the exam, I engaged ThinkSmart Kids to coach and prepare her for the exam.  Sharmila and Sanjay spent many hours working with my daughter, enthusiastically and intensely.  They kept up with her via email on her weekly assignments, and, most of all, encouraged her to think smart and do her personal best.  Sunni took her test in January this year and did very well for her age group.  As a result of her scores on the SAT, Sunni has been accepted into the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth's summer program.  She will be attending a rigorous, three week course of study in Rhode Island at Roger Williams University.  And while she was identified as gifted in reading comprehension and writing prior to taking the SAT, Sharmila encouraged her to work just as hard on her math and critical reasoning skills.  Sunni embraced the challenge whole-heartedly.  While I fully expected her to choose a language or writing course to focus on this summer, she surprised me and chose Biotechnology.  Six days a week, eight hours a day, she will be mapping the "Human Genome project" with her colleagues by the New England shore.  Sunni is very excited about her upcoming academic adventure at "genius camp".  We have Sharmila and Sanjay at ThinkSmart Kids to thank for that.  I would commend ThinkSmart Kids to any parent wishing to expand their gifted child's academic horizons.

Sincerely,

When I decided to find additional academic help for my daughter, Claire, the decision was not easy. Claire was in 6th grade. The franchise centers did not offer the one-on-one attention that she needed. But when Sharmila started working with Claire, the transformation was amazing. She turned a child who struggled to focus on her school work into a confident, eager-to-learn young lady.  My daughter continues to go to ThinkSmart Kids for the summer and during the year to keep her on ahead and enjoy the learning process.
Thank You,

Sharmila's classes are such a joyful experience for kids!  Her great interest and enthusiasm are apparent as she exposes her students to a variety of subjects in an interactive and fun manner.  Her accelerated academic classes expose children to the world by integrating many subject areas into the lesson.  She teaches about the continents, its countries, cultures, foods, arts, history, geography, languages, famous explorers, scientists, flora and fauna, yoga and so much more!!  The children apply their minds as they learn about teamwork and collaboration, communication through discussions, and sharing ideas.
Students love hearing to music from various parts of the world, tasting world cuisine, doing short skits in foreign languages, playing cricket, trying to play the Didgeridoo, working on currency exchange rate problems or even learning the roman numerals.  The children leave class with a stronger understanding of another part of the world, respecting new found cultures and respecting each other through their shared discussions and hands-on projects.  Sharmila inspires creative thinking and great leadership while introducing the children to exciting information.

Sharmila Sanjay is an incredibly gifted teacher.  Her contagious and energizing enthusiasm and love for learning and for teaching the wonders of our world stirs something of awe, of curiosity, of empathy, and kinship deep within our children.  She taps the open minds of her students and pours in history, art, science, mathematics, geography and discovery.  With the intriguing stories of great men and women across the world.  With hands-on experience.  With games.  With art.  William Bennett is quoted as saying  " Seen only as a laundry list of theorems in a workbook, science can be a bore. But as a "hands-on" adventure guided by a knowledgeable teacher, it can sweep children up in the excitement of discovery. "  But Bennett has not yet met Sharmila.  She sweeps her students up on the excitement of an adventure story through the science of rain, volcanos and mountains.  Yet she won't stop there.  This rain, these volcanos and mountains may be in Japan. So her students learn some words in Japanese (konnichiwa), about the food (try some), the history (learn about rice farmers and the ways and battles of the great Samurai men), the art (create Ikebana), religions of Japan (Buddhism and Shintoism), and daily life (care to practice the tea ceremony of the Samurai), and the economy of today.  Sharmila then directs the children in a play where the children speak only Japanese!  And this is just Japan.  The world has many more countries and Sharmila will soon be teaching your child about all them, in depth, if given the chance.  There's no rote memorization.  In keeping with Plato's wisdom of long ago -

" Avoid compulsion and let early education be a manner of amusement.  Young children learn by games; compulsory education cannot remain in the soul"

- this is joyful learning, loud with the happy chatter of participating kids.

I have been absolutely thrilled with my experience with Sharmila. I started taking my 3 year old and from the moment we arrived for the first session Sharmila made every encounter a learning experience.  She has exposed my daughter the topics I would not dream would interest her because of her age but she has been so engaged in everything she has been taught.  My daughter speaks different words from different languages, she is learning about presidents and geography and even yoga.  My 3 year old loves spending time and learning with Sharmila. Because I saw such wonderful progress with her, I decided to send my 9 year old for tutoring and enrichment.  Again, the experience and education have been so worth while.  She doesn't just teach by grade level she teaches to ones ability.  She holds my daughter accountable and challenges her.  Next I am about to start my 8 year old son.  I would never send my 3 children to Sharmila if I didn't believe in her program, I didn't trust her to be loving and caring toward my children and if I wasn't seeing results.  I highly recommend her program, it is above and beyond other tutoring/enrichment programs my children have been involved with.

Thank you Sharmila

I would highly recommend ThinkSmart Kids.  Our son is a good student, but ran into some new concepts that were causing him problems.  Sharmila was able to quickly bring him up to speed on the concepts and also worked with him to get ahead of his future class work.  The result was improved test scores and greater confidence.  We were very happy with the results!

What a pleasant meeting!  I sensed Sharmila's sincerity and passion to love, nurture and educate all children.  I knew immediately I wanted to enroll our son.

ThinkSmartKids program is OUTSTANDING!  Sharmila uses every moment as a teaching opportunity.  From the time we enter her door until the time we part, she is teaching.  And the beauty of it all is that the “lessons” are taught in a matter-of-fact fun way.  She allows him to lead and explore.  My husband and I attempt to make every opportunity a teachable moment.  However, I must admit there are concepts that I just would not have thought to ‘teach’ him at his age. "

This enrichment program is unlike other programs in the area as it truly is tailored to fit the needs of each child.  The one-on-one tutoring helps Sharmila to more easily discover areas that each child enjoys and any difficulties that a child may have.  Sharmila collaborates with each parent to devise the best strategy to help each child reach their utmost potential.  Sharmila's enthusiasm is contagious!  She personally makes each lesson fun, interesting, and fulfilling for the student.  I recommend ThinkSmart for anyone who wants their children to explore their potential in an engaging, interactive, and nurturing environment.

"Sharmila is an amazing teacher.  She has a loving, energetic, think-outside-the-box attitude when it comes to learning.  She also has a wealth of knowledge to pass on to parents on matters such as nutrition, physical and mental fitness, together with the core content areas.  In a very short time, my 3 year old has learned a great deal and loves going to TSK.  We highly recommend TSK to all.   Thank you TSK!"
